ASHWELL PRISON
Roam the forsaken corridors of Ashwell Prison, where the shadows of the past still cling to the walls. This place, once teeming with the hopeless and the lost, now serves as a silent witness to tales of despair and unrest.
Ashwell Prison, located in the parish of Burley, Rutland, was constructed on the site of a World War II US Army base, which was home to part of the 82nd Airborne Division. It first opened in 1955 as an open prison for adult male prisoners, however In October 1987, Ashwell was converted to an Adult Male Category C establishment.
A major riot occurred at Ashwell Prison on April 11, 2009. The riot, which involved approximately 400 prisoners, caused extensive damage to the facility, making 75% of the prison uninhabitable. The prison closed it doors in 2011.
Visitors and staff have reported seeing shadowy figures moving silently through the corridors and cells. These apparitions are believed to be the spirits of former inmates who met tragic ends within the prison walls. It is also believed that mysterious voices can be heard echoing through the now-abandoned cells.
The spirits of those who once inhabited these cells may still be lingering, their stories waiting to be uncovered. Be prepared to face the entities that haunt these forsaken grounds.
