STAVELEY HALL
CHESTERFIELD

As you stand on the threshold of history and the unknown, you will the ancient walls have borne witness to countless lives and lingering spirits. As we venture deeper into this storied manor, be alert, the past has a way of reaching out.

Staveley Hall, located in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, dates back over four centuries. The hall was built in 1604 by Sir Peter Frecheville on the site where his ancestors had lived for five hundred years before him. The plaque over the front door shows the date, 1604, his status as a Knight of the Realm, and the coats of arms of his parents, Peter Frecheville and Margaret Kaye.

The Frecheville family lived at Staveley Hall until John Frecheville died in 1682, having sold the estate to William Cavendish, 3rd Earl of Devonshire, in 1681. The hall was leased out for a short time after 1682, but in 1710, William Cavendish's grandson, James, lived at the hall

There have been reports of the sound of furniture being dragged from locked rooms and unexplained knocks which have left visitors unnerved and panicked. Visitors have also reported hearing disembodied footsteps and whispers, especially in the dead of night.

Stay sharp, for the echoes of those who once walked these halls may still be heard, and the shadows may reveal more than just darkness. Are you ready to uncover the mysteries that lie within?
